Description of the procedure
Lipofilling, or transplantation of own adipose tissue, is a procedure in which fat is removed from an area of the body where it is not needed and transplanted into the desired area of the body (chest, thighs, even lip augmentation with fat). For aesthetic purposes, fat injections are made in those areas of the body and face that have lost volume due to natural aging or changes in body weight, as well as in cases when the body needs an additional volume in certain locations. In reconstructive surgery, lipofilling is used in places of the body or for facial soft tissue defects that have occurred after operations and injuries. Since lipofilling is a minimally invasive procedure using one’s own fat, there are practically no contraindications.

Treatment
Small corrections (lipofilling of the abdomen, lipofilling of the lower leg, etc.) are performed in an out-patient setting. If large corrections are performed (body lipofilling) – a short course of treatment in hospital is necessary.
Convalescence
For 2 to 3 weeks after the fat transfer a tight, elastic closing may be necessary to reduce oedema, bruises and prevent the occurrence of uneven skin. Some days after the lipofilling discomfort and a slight burning pain can be felt in the place operated on. Return to work is possible after 1 to 2 weeks, larger physical loads can be restarted after 2 to 4 weeks, oedema and bruises disappear within 1 to 6 months. At the site of fat injection, redness, local oedema, bruising and slight numbness can be experienced during the first days. You should always remember that during the lipofilling a hypercorrection is performed, because statistically, 30 to 50 % of the transplanted fat does not get accustomed and is absorbed in a natural way.
