Brachioplasty is a type of plastic surgery when the excess amount of hanging skin and adipose tissue on the arms in the shoulder area is eliminated. This correction becomes necessary with age when the skin loses its elasticity and does not hold its shape, which can cause aesthetic discomfort. Along with this, the mentioned deformations can develop as a result of intensive weight loss, when the fat layer decreases and excess skin volume appears. Usually, such a problem occurs on the inside of the arm, localized in the area from the shoulder to the elbow.

Is upper arm correction always done only with skin incisions?
Upper arm correction can be done with:
(a) the liposuction method
(b) by excision of excess skin
(c) a combination of the two methods
Will there always be visible scars after the operation?
Scars remain after any plastic surgery. In the case of liposuction, they are small, about half a centimeter long, and usually are hidden in the natural fold area. If skin excision is performed, the scar will be the length of the correction incision and located on the inner surfaces of the upper arms and armpits.
What restrictions will need to be followed in the postoperative period?
After the first two weeks after the operation, the wounds heal actively, the edema and subcutaneous bleeding are reduced. Compression clothing should be worn during the postoperative period.
