What is PRP?
PRP (Platelet rich plasma) is a relatively new method of regenerative therapy, which includes a large number of elements that stimulate growth processes, and their application in a certain tissue area stimulates and accelerates natural regeneration processes. This method has proven itself and proved both in the aesthetic improvement of the structure of facial tissues and in the improvement of hair growth, as well as in the promotion of tissue self-regeneration processes in other areas of the body.
Although the blood is mostly made up of a fluid called plasma, it is also made up of solid particles called red and white blood cells and platelets. The most important feature of platelets is their ability to clot blood. However, platelets also secrete growth factors, which are naturally active elements responsible for stimulating and enhancing tissue self-regeneration and healing.
PRP (platelet-rich blood plasma) is a product obtained from the patient’s own blood (autologous form). A special centrifugation method separates the platelet-rich blood plasma from the red blood cells.
PRP is plasma with a much higher platelet count than is normally present in the blood. Platelet counts – which also mean high levels of growth factor – can be 5 to 10 times higher than normal in the blood.
How is PRS obtained and applied?
(1) A blood sample is taken from a patient in a tube and processed under controlled conditions.
(2) In a special centrifuge system, the individual blood components are separated and the product with the most efficient platelet count is prepared.
(3) The product of PRP in aesthetic medicine is injected in the form of microinjections for the improvement of the quality of the skin and for hair growth stimulating procedures. To restore deeper tissue structures (joints, ligaments), the product is injected in larger amounts in a bolus injection.
PRP material is applied to secondary wounds in the form of a gel substance, promoting a better tissue healing process. This procedure is performed using specialized, certified and quality-controlled medical equipment (CE marking).
Does the PRP preparation have any side effects?
This method is as safe as your own blood. Because PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is obtained from the patient’s own blood and is a 100% natural product, it means that the patient cannot develop diseases, allergies and is not exposed to other similar health risks and side effects during the treatment process. The only known side effects are related to the procedure: it is possible to get small bruises or feel a little discomfort for a few days.
All devices used in the procedure are sealed, sterile and used only once.
The procedure is performed in a doctor’s office without surgical intervention and always in full compliance with the applicable legal norms.
Due to its proven efficacy and safety, the PRP has been recognized by the Spanish Agency for Medicinal Products and Health Products (AEMPS) as a medicinal product for human use since 2013.
Relative contraindications:
The medical staff of this center is trained to perform PRP therapy and will use it in a way that achieves optimal results.
Application of PRP to improve the quality of skin and subcutaneous tissue of the face and other areas of the body and to promote hair growth and firmness.
Indications:
What changes will happen to my skin when using this product?
This is a natural method that uses the body’s own active cell material, which does not change the proportions of the natural face. A natural skin color is obtained by reducing hyperpigmentation and improved hydration and, as a result, the skin becomes more elastic. Signs of aging are reduced (skin defects, wrinkles). The skin becomes more radiant and healthier.
Other beneficial effects of PRP therapy:
Procedure time:
about 20 minutes
How many times must the method be performed to see the result?
Often the results of facial skin rejuvenation can be seen immediately or after a week. However, it is recommended to perform this method in the form of courses 4-6 times with an interval of 1 month. Not everyone needs an intensive cell regeneration course. Depending on the clinical situation and the doctor’s instructions, a specific course plan is developed for each individual.
To stimulate hair growth, it is recommended to perform the procedure in the form of an active course 4-6 times with an interval of 2 weeks to a month between procedures, repeating the procedure after 3-6 months to improve the structure and firmness of new ingrown hairs. Maintenance therapy is done by repeating the procedure every 3-6 months.
PRP – PLATELET-RICH PLASMA INJECTIONS FOR THE RECOVERY OF CHRONICALLY OR ACUTE DAMAGED JOINTS AND TENDONS
PRP (platelet rich plasma) injections are also relevant for improving the recovery of arthrosis, tendinitis, other musculoskeletal disorders after trauma or chronic joint wear.
How does it work?
Laboratory tests have shown that increased levels of growth factor can potentially speed up the body’s healing process.
Injury care with PRP can be implemented in one of two ways:
PRP is carefully injected at the site of injury. For example, Achilles tendinitis – common in runners and tennis enthusiasts, where heel tendons can become swollen, inflamed and painful. A mixture of PRP and local anesthetic can be injected directly at the site of swelling. The pain may get worse in the first week, but after a few weeks the patient will feel a positive effect.
PRP can also be used to speed up the healing process after surgery. This is done by injecting PRP during surgery.
In what situations is PRP used for musculoskeletal system pathologies?
Research is currently being carried out into the treatment of PRP injections. The effectiveness of PRP cannot be determined consistently as results vary between patients. Factors that may affect the effectiveness of PRS include:
The most effective use of PRS is for:
In recent years, a relatively new treatment method with PRS (platelet rich stroma) or platelet-rich stromal cell material has become popular in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knees and palms.
How is PRS obtained and applied?
Most of the product is injected directly into the joint in the form of a bolus injection, and some of the product is injected around the joint.
