Nose reshaping (Rhinoplasty)

How does a beautiful nose look? It’s very simple – it suits a person’s face! Such a nose looks natural and harmonises other facial features. Nose corrective surgery is usually performed on people who consider that their nose is not good enough. With the help of nose plastic surgery, congenital or post-traumatic defects can be corrected, as well as various breathing problems being settled. Nasal plastic surgery is not advisable unless urgent before the age of 14 to 16 years.

Nose plastic surgery

Procedure: during nose plastic surgery, correction of the nose form can be performed by its reduction (part of the nasal bone and cartilage is removed), by changing the form of the tip of the nose or inferior part of the nose (nasal cartilage is transformed and approximated), nostrils can be narrowed (a small part of tissue is removed from the basal part of the nose) or the angle between the nose and upper lip can be changed (the nasal septum is changed).

Duration of the surgery: 1 to 2 hours.

Anaesthesia: general or local with sedatives.

Treatment: usually one day in hospital.

Convalescence: following nose plastic surgery, a gypsum, metallic or plastic fixation device that helps to preserve the new form is used. The fixation device and sutures are removed within 7 to 10 days. Oedema reduces within 1 to 2 weeks. Larger physical loads should be limited for 2 to 3 weeks after the surgery, nasal trauma or sunbathing should be avoided for 8 weeks. Normal appearance is obtained after 1 year.

Result:  a desired nasal form can be obtained from nose corrective surgery. The effect is permanent.
