Charity organization “Microsurgery Development Association” was founded on October 24th, 2005.
Objectives: - to provide Latvian patients with world class treatment and care; - to educate global market-competitive specialists.
Tasks: - to promote the development of plastic, reconstructive, hand and microsurgery, as well as hand care in Latvia according to international standards; - to finance the education of patients in order to reduce the number of industrial traumas; - to finance the development of plastic, reconstructive, hand and microsurgery and training of the medical personnel; - to finance research in the applied disciplines and epidemiology; - to finance the introduction of new medical technologies and rare pathological surgeries; - to inform the public of the possibilities of plastic, reconstructive, hand and microsurgery.
Funding: The funding of Microsurgery Development Association consists of individual and company donations. Donations account: A/S Parex banka, LV75PARX0000122821013.
Companies which donate to charity organizations are entitled to tax deduction of 85% of the sum donated (Act “On company revenue tax”, article No. 20).
Financed activities: 2006 – 2008: specialists and interns' traineeship at Kleinert and Kutz Hand Care Center (USA) and the University of Porto (Portugal);
2007 – 2008: seminar on “Treatment of bedsores and osteomyelitis, application of efficient bandages to problematic wounds”, lectures to students;
2006-2008: subscription of “Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery” magazine, purchase of books on the latest methods of medical treatment and kinds of surgery.
